Mia Romano is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She completed a Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Sydney and has undertaken training in a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT). She is also an accredited provider of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and the Cool Kids suite of CBT programs.
Mia brings experience across both public and private health settings, working with people of all ages—from children and teenagers to older adults. She has supported individuals experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, stress, low mood and depression, trauma, behavioural difficulties, and life changes or adjustment issues. She also works with relationship challenges and supports families to better understand each other, strengthen connections, and communicate more openly.
Before completing her clinical training, Mia completed a PhD in Psychology and worked in several research clinics, including as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Waterloo in Canada. She was particularly interested in researching what keeps people stuck in mental health challenges and how therapy works to help. This research informs Mia’s clinical practice and person-centred approach to therapy, helping her to create a warm and collaborative space where people feel safe, understood, and empowered to work towards their goals. She also enjoys finding creative and practical ways to help children, adolescents, and families get the most out of therapy.
