Matteo’s approach to therapy is trauma-informed and relational. He believes that therapy is a time and space to work on what’s important to you, and help you overcome the obstacles that have prevented you (or your family) from living meaningful and authentic lives. Matteo endeavours to appreciate and understand the unique aspects of each individual he works with, whilst also sharing in the common elements that make us human. He has had experience helping individuals overcome a wide diversity of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, panic, obsessions/compulsions, grief, trauma, psychosis, and complex family dynamics – although recognizes that often the personal challenges that many of us face do not fit neatly into diagnostic categories or labels.
Matteo also has experience working with children, teens, and their families. His work focuses on supporting families to make meaningful changes through the establishment of stronger, closer relationships with each other. He understands that the contexts and challenges that families face are constantly changing, and he aims to help children, teens, and parents respond effectively to life’s natural ordeals.
Matteo has undertaken training in a number of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), structural and systemic family therapy, and Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT). He is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Australian board of Psychology (AHPRA) and has completed a Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology at The University of Sydney.
