Shannon is a Clinical Psychologist with registration with the Australian Board of Psychology, and she is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).
She completed her undergraduate studies and honours degree at the Australian National University (ANU), followed by a Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology at The University of Sydney. Through this, she has published in scientific journals, and presented at national and international psychology conferences.
Shannon strongly values an evidence-based approach to her psychological practise, and prides herself on creating a strong, warm and safe therapeutic alliance with the individuals and families she works with. She has extensive direct experience in working professionally with children, adolescents, and adults across both community and hospital mental health settings; and is thus experienced in the treatment of a range of clinical presentations, including: depression, anxiety disorders, grief, trauma and PTSD. Shannon specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Family and Systemic Therapy, and Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT).
She has previously worked as a psychologist within the Integrated Violence Prevention and Response Service specialising in working with children, families, and young adults; and at an adult DBT outpatients service in Sydney. She is currently also working as a Clinical Psychologist at the Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) Inpatient Unit at the Hornsby Hospital.
